Abstract

The larger cities and towns in Cumberland County are complaining that they are carrying an unfair burden when it comes to financing the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department. Communities with their own police departments pay a larger share of the costs for the sheriff's department, but rely less on the department's services than communities with no police force of their own.
