Abstract

Parents who objected to an April 16 workshop, which was part of Deering's Diversity Day and featured two lesbian speakers, are expected to use tonight's meeting of the school's Human Sexuality and Family Living Advisory Board as a forum to protest what they view as the promotion of homosexuality by the school. Opposition appears focused in the North Deering neighborhood, which supported repeal of the city's gay-rights ordinance, and is led by the watchdog group Citizens for Excellence in Education.
