Abstract

Samuel Shapiro, the state treasurer, downplayed the news that Moody's Investors Service had dropped its bond rating for Maine by a half notch from Aa1 to Aa, essentially two steps below top grade. Standard & Poor's, meanwhile, maintained its rating of AA+ for the state, one step below top grade. Details.
