Abstract

A look at the life of Myrtle Lowell, 84, of Thomaston, who lives alone in an old farmhouse she and her late husband, Richard, inherited from his father. As a child, she lived on Rackliff's Island and rowed to school. She left school at 13 to work for a family in Rockland, and at 16, moved to a boarding house in town and got a job as an elevator girl in the Fuller Cobb Davis department store. She takes a drive, points out places she remembers, and talks about her long marriage.
