Abstract
Topsham's Flying Changes Center for Therapeutic Riding gives children skills and joy. Barbara Doughty conceived of the non-profit center in 1992, when she was divorced and raising four children. Her work combines her special education training and love of horses. Eighty-five riders with a variety of special needs come to the center each week. Volunteers help out; there are paid instructors; and many horses are donated and sometimes restored to health. The late George Bass began as a volunteer and became a board member and generous benefactor. Students, instructors, and individual horses are described.
