Abstract
Engineer Karl Smith of New Hampshire and Conductor Rory O'Connor of Old Orchard Beach work on Amtrak's Boston-to-Portland Downeaster train. On a trip from Portland, they deal with a belligerent passenger, children riding their bikes too close to the train, and a loss of power that forces them to coast the last mile into North Station.
