Abstract
On Oct. 4, the Portland Public Library will host the jazz play "It's a Hardbop Life," by Gregory Charles Royal. The Broadway trombonist and American Youth Symphony director is touring a nationwide program to hold an open discussion on the lack of instrumental musicians in the forefront of youth music culture.
