Abstract

A look at the Portland Public Library's ongoing $7.3 million renovation, expected to be completed in nine months, with details on the plan's improved aesthetics and green technology. At a groundbreaking event yesterday, speakers said the library will energize Monument Square, anticipate new technologies, and be aligned with "all that is wonderful about Portland." When funds are secured, a second phase of the renovation will begin, including installation of green roofs and gardens and an outdoor urban screen. Scott Simons Architects developed the new design.
