Abstract

The Natural Resources Council of Maine claims that state environmental Commissioner Dean Marriott's recent change of heart regarding dioxin amounts in Maine rivers does not mean he supports stronger standards. NRCM staff scientist Peter Washburn says that Marriott and the paper industry agreed not to pursue the rule change because they knew the Board of Enmvironmental Protection wouldn't approve it.
