Abstract

Planners in Mount Desert are investigating ways to curtail overcrowding at local tourist spots, and are considering banning non-residents from some of the more popular destinations. Residents complain that their roads are inundated with tourists and their cars, and some have found their woodlots being used as campgrounds. Mount Desert, unlike Bar Harbor, has only a limited dependence on tourism.
