Abstract
Related articles on extreme sports in Maine. Kayakers have discovered Gulf Hagas, and the gorge on the West Bank of the Penobscot River has become something of a proving ground in the Northeast. Paragliding enthusiasts can be found most days sailing off the top of Mt. Waldo near Frankfort, with other favorite locations being Megunticook in the Camden Hills, Pleasant Mountain in Rockport, and Mount Will in Bethel. Extreme-sports participants in Maine running ultramarathons, doing extreme vertical climbs and racing mountain bikes in addition to paragliding and other activities.
