Abstract

The Theater at Monmouth, known for its classical repertoire, has announced that its 1996 summer season will be not feature any productions of Shakespeare. The decision to abstain from Shakespeare is expected to be unpopular among members of the audience. A number of factors has contributed to the decision, including changes in the theater's venue and a decline in available funds. The theater will return to Shakespeare in 1997, and hopes to reinstate its high school Shakespeare tour. Details.
