Abstract

The State Theatre in Portland closed its doors, less than three years after re-opening as a concert hall. The theater has been trying to change to nonprofit status, and earlier this month said it needed $200,000 over the next two months to stay open. The theater's executive director applied to the city for a $150,000 loan, but was denied it because it was unable to secure a matching bank loan.
