Abstract

Legislation sponsored by state representative Thomas Poulin of Oakland would prohibit the sale of reformulated gasoline throughout the state, except during peak tourism season, when it would be required statewide. The bill is an attempt to appease gas station owners in Kennebec County, who say they are losing business because customers are going to Somerset County, where RFG is not mandated. Passage of the bill could put Maine in violation of the federal Clean Air Act.
