Abstract

Robin Metcalfe, owner of Kelmscott Farm in Lincolnville, and farm manager Nick Richardson are helping to maintain genetic diversity in domestic farm animals. The farm is a working farm full of sheep, horses, laying hens and pigs, but the breeds grown there are unusual and have been spared certain extinction. Kelmscott Farm, founded in 1993, is most famous for Cotswold sheep, a breed introduced in England by the Romans. The farm is home to the Kelmscott Rare Breeds Foundation, a major fund-raising component to the undertaking. Details.
