Abstract
Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce President Peter Thompson said that entries in the Kennebec Whatever Race have fallen so low that the event is aiming instead to set a new world record for canoes and kayaks gathered in one spot. Sunday's event will be filmed by a British Broadcasting Corp. crew and broadcast live on WCSH-TV. The current record for canoes and kayaks is 568, and Thompson is hoping for 1,000 on race day.
