Abstract

The McLaughlin Garden Preservation Committee was formed to rescuefrom development the garden of Bernard McLaughlin of South Paris, who died last year. Infighting among board members of the group led to a split, which appeared to center on whether the committee should raise money out of state or just within the Oxford Hills area. One of the groups, led by Walter Bressette of Norway, voted to dissolve itself, leaving the McLaughlin Foundation in control of the effort to save the garden. A bid of $200,000 on the property was approved, and the foundation has only days to raise the money.
