Abstract
The U.S. Postal Service has decided that its current facility in Mount Vernon is inadequate, and the USPS real estate division is soliciting bids for a new site. Many of Mount Vernon's 1,362 residents appear satisfied with the current facility, and a group called the Committee to Conserve the Mount Vernon Post Office has been formed. The only community in Maine to successfully stop a post office move within its borders was Camden.
