Abstract
Maine's excursion boats, which have typically offered tourists short trips around scenic harbors, have expanded into such areas as eductional tours and lobster cruises, during which visitors collect and analyze bottom samples or haul lobster traps. The new offerings are a response to a growing interest among tourists in seeing more than just sunsets and ocean wildlife.
