Abstract

A bill introduced in the Legislature, LD 1285, would create a universal health care system for Maine, called by many one of the most ambitious acts of social re-engineering in decades. The plan would provide universal access and comprehensive care to all Mainers, but it has numerous opponents, most notably the state's insurance providers.
