Abstract
MBNA Corp. purchases art for its offices in Camden and Belfast, typically purchasing a half dozen works at a time by an artist, creating a mini-boom for artists and galleries in the Midcoast region. Peter Frank of MBNA says the purpose of the art is to motivate and uplift employees and fill the interior walls of the four rmillion square feet of space the company owns. Camden artist William Beebe works as an arist-in-residence for MBNA, and the company owns works by the likes of Nancy Glassman, Jerri Finch, Allie Sabalis, Linde Frederick and others. Peter Jacobs, currently in charge of art purchasing for the Portland law firm of Pierce Atwood, praises MBNA's mass purchases. Details.
