Abstract

Members of the Maine Hospice Council met last week to discuss the way hospices were portrayed during the recent Harvey Prager controversy, in which questions were raised about the suitability of substituting hospice work for prison time. The council, which represents 25 hospice programs and nearly 2,000 hospice volunteers in Maine, were concerned about the court's view of hospice work as a form of punishment.
