Abstract
Details on last Thursday's debate in Augusta, sponsored by the Wildlife Society, pitting the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine against the Maine Audubon Society. The two sides discussed a proposal to divert money from the loon license plate away from wildlife programs and to the Maine Warden Service. SAM argued that the warden service needs funds for enforcement efforts. Maine Audubon said the warden service could raise money by increasing boat registration fees from $4 to $15, as recommended by the Great Ponds Task Force.
