Abstract
The Maine Legislature will consider 2,300 bills this session, including one that would amend the Constitution of Maine to require that the composition of Legislature reflects the makeup of the state's population. The bill would explore changes to ensure that working people could serve in the Legislature without having to hold down three or four jobs. State senator Marge Kilkelly, a co-sponsor of the measure, said the Legislature's calendar doesn't encourage people with regular jobs to run for office.
