Abstract
Haymock Lake is rated Class 1-B by the state, meaning it possesses significant fisheries, scenic, shoreline and cultural values. Doug Denico, a forester with S. D. Warren, and state biologist Peter Bourque jointly purchased a 920-acre tract on the lake from Diamond Occidental. Denico said they intend to preserve the area's character, and sell a portion of the parcel to Rick Denico. An anonymous staffer at the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission denounced the purchase because of Doug Denico's role in opposing a LURC proposal to ban development in large areas of the north woods.
