Abstract

state representative Joseph Clark, D-Millinocket, has into legislation that would prohibit Maine wardens from using mechanical deer to catch poachers and hunters violating game laws. Clark introduced the proposal at the behest of the Millinocket Fin and Feather Club, which dislikes the fake deer. Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Commissioner Ray Owen said the decoys are one of the best tools wardens have to catch illegal hunters, and have been used in all 50 states and Canada.
