Abstract
Feature article on mountain biking in Maine. The 44 miles of carriage roads in Acadia National Park give cyclists an efficient and scenic method of touring the interior of the park. Camden is the site of an emerging mountain trail system. Ski areas such as Sunday River and Sugarloaf/USA have found that mountain biking is a natural off-season sport for cross-country and alpine trails. The chamber of commerce and local biking enthusiasts in Greenville are working to expand the mountain bike trail system in the town.
