Abstract

The Bangor Clean Clothes Campaign is working to educate retailers and consumers about substandard working conditions in the sweatshops that produce much of the clothing worn in the United States. The campaign has focused on consciousness-raising activities and petition drives, and is expected to present a resolution against sweatshop-produced clothing to the Bangor City Council. The campaign is sponsored by Peace Through Interamerican Community Action, and is co-sponsored by the Maine AFL-CIO and Greater Bangor National Organization for Women. Details.
