Abstract

A group unhappy with the Democrat's $3.8 billion state budget is embarking on an attempt to collect more than 51,000 signatures to force a citizen vote on the budget. The rarely used people's veto has apparently never before been applied to a state budget. Leaders of the effort include former state representative John Michael, Nelson Foley of the Reform Party, state senator Jeffrey Butland and Julian Holmes of the Green Party. Michael says the group's mission is to let Democrats know they cannot force a budget through without attempting to get Republican support. Details.
