Abstract

The Maine Legislature's Appropriations Committee is considering setting up a team to negotiate a settlement with Donald and Janice Burns, the parents of Wrendy Hayne. Hayne was stabbed to death at the Augusta Mental Health Institute by fellow patient Harold Pulsifer in April 1996. The Maine Department of Mental Health wants to settle the case, but does not want the Burns family to be allowed to seek damages from AMHI doctors separately. Details.
