Abstract

Aram Calhoun is coordinating a statewide amphibian monitoring program, and the first project involves organizing a frog and toad survey. The survey was proposed by the Maine Audubon Society and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and fund by the Maine Outdoors Heritage Fund, and includes 47 routes across the state. Volunteers will monitor the routes three times each year, and each route consists of ten to 12 wetland sites. Volunteers will listen for calls on their routes to determine which frogs and toads are present at the sites. Details.
