Abstract

Dairy farmer Ralph Hall of Charleston sued Bangor Hydro-Electric, claiming that stray voltage resulted in lost milk production in his cows. Hall settled the case out of court, and refused to say how much he received. State Veterinarian Don Hoenig has recommended that voltage blockers be installed on several dozen farms, which would prevent voltage from being dumped over a neutral line. Hoenig discovered stray voltage on the dairy farm of David and Vicki Barker of Leeds, and the Barkers said having a blocker installed resulted in improved animal health and productivity. Details.
