Abstract
Cherryfield Foods last week announced plans for more than 900 acres of cranberry bogs in Washington County over the next decade. Cherryfield has 8,000 acres of blueberry barrens in Washington County, and owns a total of 41,500 acres there. The cranberry bogs are expected to cost more than $45 million to build, and would eventually employ more than 75 full-time and 200 seasonal workers. Cherryfield has a blueberry processing plant that sits empty much of the year, and the cranberries will be processed there for resale to processors. Details.
