Abstract
The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for years has given its employees free use of agency field camps for off-duty recreation and vacations. The Maine Forest Service and the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands also have camps in the north woods, but don't allow their workers to use the camps except for official business. IF&W has four camps in the state-owned restricted zone that borders the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, which is overseen by the Bureau of Parks and Lands. Tim Caverly, manager of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, is perturbed enough about IF&W recreational activities to make it an issue in the proposed new management plan. Details.
