Abstract
The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission last Thursday denied a development permit to Armand and Kathleen Madore, who had proposed a juvenile residential facility on a 32-acre parcel on Mooselookmeguntic Lake south of Oquossoc village. LURC agreed that the proposed Western Maine Academy wasn't a permitted use in the area. The Madores operate Roy House in Dixfield, a special-purpose group home and day treatment facility for six children. The proposed 18,800-square-foot facility would treat, care and school up to 24 children with emotional and behavioral disorders. Details.
