Abstract
The Loring Commerce Center in Limestone, formerly Loring Air Force Base, is home to the second Job Corps Center in Maine. The Training and Development Corp. of Bucksport, which had operated the Penobscot Job Corps Center in Bangor, last year was awarded the $9.9 million contract to develop and operate the Loring Job Corps Center. TDC operates in such communities as South Central Los Angeles and Seattle, and gained U.S. Department of Labor recognition as one of the two best organizations operating Job Corps centers nationally. The Loring Job Corps center is the Job Corps' first center of innovation in the country, using new methods to train and educate young people. Details.
