Abstract

Three of Maine's premier golf courses, Martindale in Auburn, Purpoodock in Cape Elizabeth and the Augusta Country Club, forbid women to play the links on weekend mornings. The practice might be illegal under a 1991 state law which ties the issuance of a state liquor license to a club's policies regarding membership. Details.
