Abstract

Some school districts in Maine lost as many as eight school days because of this month's ice storm. The Augusta school board is considering April vacation as an option for making up days, with a waiver from the the mandated 175-day school calendar the last option the board will consider. Maine Department of Education Commissioner J. Duke Albanese said in some instances a waiver might be the best course of action.
