Abstract
Feature article on Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) and its chief executive officer, David Flanagan. CMP, the principal owner of the Maine Yankee nuclear power plant, witnessed the plant's closing last August, and this year suffered ated $50 million to $60 million in costs related to the January ice storm. The utility showed slim earnings for 1997, but its stock is rising due to the $846 million purchase of its generating facilities by FPL Energy of Florida. Flanagan, who took charge in 1994, says CMP will continue to attract investors without raising rates for electricity. Details; profile of Flanagan.
