Abstract
Mead Corp. has proposed constructing a $12 million wood chip mill off route 2 in Hanover. The facility would create 30 jobs, and would supply 750,000 tons of wood chips annually to the Mead paper mill in Rumford. Traffic, noise and bright lights would accompany the facility, creating concerns among town residents. Hanover has no zoning, so voters will have no say on whether the mill is built. A 180-day moratorium could be imposed on new developments, but Tom Lyons of Mead said the project is proceeding. Details.
