Abstract
One-fifth of registered voters in Hanover have signed petitions calling for a moratorium on large-scale industrial projects. The petitions are aimed at Mead Corp., which plans to locate a $12 million wood chip mill in a residential part of town. Petitioners requested a special town meeting vote on the moratorium, instead of waiting for the June town meeting. Mead says the mill would operate 24 hours a day, six or seven days a week. The operation will involve around 400 trips to and from the site each day.
