Abstract

"Main Street" piece on the village of Lille, which is part of the town of Grand Isle. Town meeting voters in November approved a measure requiring, for purposes of the enhanced 911 system, addresses should read Grand Isle instead of Lille. Some residents circulated a petition calling for a re-vote, but selectmen rejected the petition. The E-911 controversy is stirring up passions over family rivalries, boundary disputes, economic and political competition and other issues.
