Abstract

The Route 11/212 Corridor Committee waged a successful campaign to upgrade Route 11, which runs through the heart of Aroostook County. The state Department of Transportation will contribute $16 million for rebuilding and upgrading the road, sections of which are closed to trucking during spring breakup. Route 11 is one of only a few numbered state routes that are posted each spring, but it is by far the longest. This will be largest road construction project the state has ever taken.
