Abstract
An article on the first requests for variances to the state's clear-cutting limits as a result of the January ice storms. Morten Moesswilde of Two Trees Forestry has enjoined the Maine Forest Service to ensure "that variances to not become a vehicle for extending harvesting for reasons of economic or operational expediency."
