Abstract
"Continuum" piece on the debate between the purists and the pragmatists over Gov. Angus King's plan to buy with state bonds some of the 911,000 acres of Maine forest lands being sold by Sappi. King believes in preserving recreational opportunity and unique biological preserves as well as continuing to harvest trees on the land. The article makes the case for finding a "true model of multiple use" for forest land.
