Abstract
The state Department of Environmental Protection has spent more than $900,000 to remove most of 1.7 million used tires left in Nobleborby the failed Pine State Recycling. The tires were the equivalent of 2.8 million gallons of oil, which could have created a disastrous fire. The cleanup took two years.
