Abstract
"Continuum" piece on several bills before the Legislature to control the harvesting of elvers. Today we are witnessing another manifestation of the gold-rush mentality that might quickly destroy this fishery. The estimated elver catch is 10,000 pounds, worth anwhere from $1.5 million to $3 million, and consisting of some 15 million baby eels.
