Abstract

"Maine Interview" piece with Belfast harbor master Kathy Messier, who is gearing up for another busy boating season, her sixth at the helm of the harbor. More than 50 Maine municipalities have harbor masters, but Messier thinks she is the only female (though several women are deputy and assistant harbor masters). And no fewer than three of the five people working for Messier at the harbor this summer are women. With comments about recreational boating, how she became a harbor master, where she got her boating skills and how she would rate Belfast Harbor.
