Abstract

The upcoming Lewiston referendum on that city's anti-discrimination ordinance is being seen by some as a statewide barometer on the issue of gay rights. If the ordinance should be sustained in Lewiston, with its Franco-American working class neighborhoods, it would be different than the vote in Portland, Maine's most liberal city. Details.
