Abstract
"News & Issues" piece on Wellington, a town of just 262 inhabitants in southwestern Piscataquis County, which was selected as an outstanding achiever under Maine's Community Forestry Program. Shortly after Maine's January 1998 ice storm, Oakhurst Dairy and the federal government offered grants to help restore tree losses on public lands. The Wellington Tree Board planted 91 trees around town under Oakhurst's "Tree ReLeaf" program. The watering task alone consisted of delivering 900-1,200 gallons of water to the 91 trees twice a week.
